Apple and Google have joined hands to collaborate in tracing the people that corona virus patients may have interacted with or had contact with using a planned cross-platform Application Programming Protocol(API) between Android Devices which are powered by Google’s popular operating system Android and Apple’s IOs platform. This may be one of the few occasions that we see these two rival companies join hands in a collaboration like this for the benefit of the human race and not just for profit.
Google and Apple plan on using the technology we all underrate every day, Bluetooth to track contact persons that may have interacted with corona virus patients. The technology is expected to help the human race continue with some day to day mandates while being assisted by the app via notifications to alert the user of potential corona virus carriers. This might help contain the outbreak. The app will be able to tell you if you are in the proximity of a person infected by the covid-19 virus thus allowing you to continue with your daily activities.
Of course this brings a very big privacy concern since these companies are known to track users of their platforms for various projects that they keep rolling out every now and then. The companies are planning to make this population tracking to combat diseases a major part of their core functionalities. The tracking is however going to be for the users that choose to opt in to be tracked. This effort is aimed at helping governments and health authorities to track the spread of the virus faster using technology.

The Roll Out
With the rollout expected in the few coming months users are to expect an app which they will download on their phone via the Play Store or App Store for Apple users. In the recent wake of the novel virus Corona many tracking companies have come out to help in tracking individuals to help control the spread of the virus. This move is however a very big concern in terms of privacy as they plan to roll out a very robust solution that they are planning to roll out on the whole platform to allow more people to opt-in. Let’s hope that the whole world will not be turning into China which uses a social score based tracking system to track everybody in the country.
